Specific Jobs to do around the Moated Settlement

If you want to tackle any of these jobs please send me a message (07963411048) or e-mail (daves@healingparishcouncil.com) beforehand as others may want to help out and we need to keep an eye on things (Health and Safety, etc).

1.  Widen footpath from stile in SW corner alongside wooden fence by pulling-up/cutting down grass, nettles, etc.

2.  Widen path along W side where the blackthorn has got a bit overgrown. Don’t want to make it too wide as an archway of branches is forming nicely – but it is wet and slippery in the winter.

3.  Design a crossing over the ditch on the SW side to provide access to the Quintessential Site. This appears to be an established path to the big pond behind the housing estate but is a possible tripping hazard at the moment. Someone has already nailed a plank to a fallen tree but this needs to be improved!

4.  Finish clearing plot by the steps of brambles, nettles and grass. Help specify new “traditional” plants and shrubs to plant in order to make this an eye-catching entrance to the Moated Settlement. Then plant and water them until established.

5.   Help develop and maintain this website.  Leader – Dave S.

6.  Assist Mary in setting-up and maintaining a Tree Trail around the Site.   Leader – Mary M.

7.  Construct 2 notice boards to be  installed by the entrances to advertise the work of the Parish Council/Green Agenda Group and show the Tree Trail.

8.  Assist in repairing the wooden fence on the S side and prepare for planting a hedge alongside parts of this in October/November this year.   Leader – Dave S.

9.   Repair fire damage to picnic table by steps – minor.

10. Repair fire damage to seat on W side- significant.

11. Clear and area of the main field for a wildflower garden to be maintained by the Scouts/Brownies as part of their Gardeners Badge. Would be nice to have a small wooden fence around it.
