Christmas Tree Recycling

Aims:  To provide a facility for residents to have their old Christmas trees put to good use – by shredding them to produce a garden mulch.

Main Persons:  Glen and Dave S.

Progress as of April 2023: In January we asked residents to bring their old trees along to the Healing Village Hall carpark and collected about 60 trees. The resulting mulch  is being used around the Scout Hut beside the Healing Village Hall. All good for the wild flowers and insects.

Some of the remaining mulch was donated to the Community Food Project Garden in Garibaldi Street. This will be put around the 43 fruit trees being planted in April and should help to get them off to a good start.
